We all know plush toys because they always play with our children or we collect them as adults. Hence, it is very vital to clean and care for them so that they remain fresh and have a longer life span. Here are some tips on how to cleanse and maintain plush toys.

Cleaning of Plush Toys

Machine Washing

Most of the stuffed animals can be machine washed. First, place the toy into a mesh laundry bag or a zippered pillow case to minimize wear and tear. Set your washing machine at a gentle, hand wash or delicate cycle option apart from using cold water since it will prevent color fading out. Then put in enough detergent that you think is required for this particular task. After washing take the toy out of the mesh bag or pillowcase then hang or lay it until dry.

Hand Washing

Older or more fragile plush toys that require gentler treatment can be hand-washed following these easy steps: Start by pouring enough cold water into a bucket/sink in order to fully immerse the soft toy inside. Then add small amounts of mild detergents/mild soap to this water. Squeeze softly so that it absorbs as much detergent as possible but not too much for it also might become torn apart, after which rinse off any remaining detergent using clean water but avoid excessive wringing. Finally roll over an absorbent towel until most moisture has been obtained thus leaving nothing behind as excess water.

Maintaining Plush Toys

The procedures used in maintaining plush toys are simple although they require precautions. One, do not expose plush toys directly under sunlight for long periods of time since this will lead to fading away of colors applied on them; Two, periodically check plush toys’ wearing off in order to mend minor worn-out parts easily; Three, if the plush toy has batteries or mechanical parts, do not immerse it in water cautiously.
